The Book Of Mormon Tickets

Durham Performing Arts Center | Durham, North Carolina

The Book of Mormon, one of the most successful shows in Broadway history, will now be arriving in Durham! and showing at Durham Performing Arts Center on Wednesday 9th April 2025!

This tale is of the coming-of-age story of an odd pair of two Mormon missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham. The Book of Mormon creatively challenges religion and religious storytelling, and presents it in classical modern theatre comedy. The two missionaries are given a mission to enlighten the villagers of a local village in Uganda, who turn out to be indifferent to what they aim to preach.

The Book of Mormon was conceptualized back in 2003 by creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, continuing on to its first performance in 2011. Since then, the Book of Mormon has become one of the most commercially successful Broadway shows in history, with repeatedly sold-out shows for over a decade.

The Book of Mormon will only be on tour in Durham’s Durham Performing Arts Center for a limited time this spring. Don’t wait for seats to run out on this popular Wednesday showing!

Familiar to locals as one of the top theatre venues in Durham, Durham Performing Arts Center has always been the top choice as a play or musical venue, especially due to its smashing interior and exterior architecture that is both functional and visually appealing. The play will be performing for a limited time in Durham Performing Arts Center in April, on Wednesday 9th April 2025.

Legendary duo Matt Stone & Trey Parker, alongside Robert Lopez have once again succeeded in creating another comedy masterpiece but in an entirely new medium for them, this time being in in the musical genre. The Book of Mormon, centered on Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, two missionaries of the Latter-day Saints (LDS) religion, begin on their journey to baptize and convert the local population of a village in Uganda. The play, despite the risk of offending the church, delves away from a serious approach to sharing this story, as it instead uses satire and even blasphemy to make light of the way religion is passed on and religious stories are told.

Theatre fans all over the world and for the past decade since its Broadway premiere in 2011 have accepted The Book of Mormon positively despite its tone, as despite mocking religious teachings, and often satirical, it also comes with a warm and serious tone beneath its language. Throughout its two acts, the musical perfectly also converts itself from a play full of cursing, adult themes, and profanity to a story that challenges and provokes thought – specifically how we, as viewers, treat religion and supernatural stories. The New York Times highlights this and stated that “The central theme of The Book of Mormon is that many religious stories are silly – the idea that God would plant golden plates in upstate New York. Many religious doctrines are rigid and out of touch. But religion itself can do enormous good as long as people take religious teaching metaphorically and not literally.”
