Note: Traffic in Durham around the Durham Performing Arts Center is known to be busier at times of major events. Please allow plenty of time prior to your event to arrive and find a suitable parking space.

DPAC is located on 123 Vivian Street, just off the Durham Freeway / NC-147 (Exits 12B or 13), and adjacent to the famous Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Guests who are driving to the theatre should plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes before an event’s listed start time to avoid late arrival and give plenty of time for finding parking.

The following are a set of driving instructions that will get you to the theatre on time.

From Chapel Hill via Hwy 15-501

  1. Highway 15-501 North toward Downtown Durham / Duke University
  2. Exit 108-B onto Highway 147 South / Durham Freeway
  3. Exit 13 at Chapel Hill Street
  4. Left at top of exit ramp onto Chapel Hill Street
  5. Right at the third stoplight on Pettigrew Street
  6. DPAC is located near the intersection of Petigrew and Blackwell Streets

From Raleigh, Cary, and points East

  1. I-40 West
  2. Exit 279-B onto 147 North toward Downtown Durham (Durham Freeway).
  3. Go 7.4 miles.
  4. Exit 12-B at Business 15-501 and Mangum / Roxboro Street
  5. Merge onto Jackie Robinson Drive
  6. Continue on Jackie Robinson Drive past Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP)
  7. Right at the third stoplight on Blackwell Street
  8. DPAC is located near the intersection of Blackwell and Vivian Streets

When the Durham Bulls are playing a home game in the Durham Bulls Athletic Park located near DPAC, please look for special signage and routes to DPAC.

Blackwell Street will be closed and parking in the South Parking Deck will be limited. DPAC traffic from the Durham Freeway / NC 147 North, will be diverted to Roxboro Street for access to American Tobacco’s North Parking Deck and the City of Durham’s Corcoran Street Parking Deck, which will both have ample parking availability. The East Parking Deck closest to DPAC will be accessible only from Mangum Street, and parking there may also be limited.

Please allow yourself extra time as you may experience slight traffic delays.

From Greensboro, Burlington, and points West

  1. I-85 North to Durham
  2. Exit 172 onto Durham Freeway / Highway 147 South
  3. Exit 13 at Chapel Hill Street
  4. Left at top of exit ramp onto Chapel Hill Street
  5. Right at the third stoplight on Pettigrew Street
  6. DPAC is located near the intersection of Petigrew and Blackwell Streets

Public Transportation Options

DPAC is located at 123 Vivian Street in the American Tobacco Historic District in Downtown Durham and is served by several nearby public transportation options. The venue is a short 5-10 minute walk from Durham Station, which is the central transportation hub for all GoDurham and GoTriangle transit buses and from Amtrak’s Durham Station.

Also, DPAC is close to several stops on The Bull City Connector, a Fare-FREE bus service from Duke University to Golden Belt, Including Ninth Street and Downtown Durham.
